I'm tring to get excited for the start of a new season but just not feeling it this year.October 1 used to be like Christmas not anymore. I must be getting old.
I've been too damn busy to think about it. Starts tomorrow and haven't even got the kids out shooting yet.

From what I've been seeing lately I am excited.

I've only hunted with a gun in November. This year I want to get out earlier so I'm using grandpas crossbow.

I haven't missed the opener of bow season in 27 years. I need to get to the Depot grab some material for a chicken coop Ive been working on. Then get the bows out and the climber. I had my ghille suit hanging for the last week.Got to get some arrows flying.

Our area has been very heavily hunted over the past 10 years, guys have been shooting anything brown.

This past year a lot of land has been sold alongside of ours. It's looking like the heavily hunted part is about to change.

All of our property buts up against a very large river that the deer bed down in. There is about a 3 mile long and 1 mile deep section of land total, a good portion of that land that was heavily hunted just switched hands.
Between the guys who bought the land and the guys who are now leasing the land for hunting take the sport very serious.

This could be a very good thing for growing our deer population and growing some big boys in our area hopefully.
