Yup, 257. Open port transfers. Side fed, not bottom feed.

I think 257s have always been open transfer - 254s and 262s are closed. 261s are closed but have the dished piston.

I’ve only seen a couple 257, but I thought they were open port but completely side fed, and not all the way through the base

The first two pics are from a 257 jug. The third is a 262 intake flange. The flanges are not the same, and as @huskihl said, the intake block and gaskets are different too.

The gasket set I have, I thought was the same as the 262. It does say there is a slight difference.

As you can see, the main difference between the two is the impulse location.

Had to run it before I replied, took down another tree and yes it oils better. Cleaning it, bar had oil soaked gunk and oil hole had oil in it. Thanks again! I can post picture of tree taken down if needed.

Piston itself looks great, at least on the exhaust side and holding at about 130psi
