Well, having not been on this forum in 2.5 years I read all 72 pages of posts hoping there would be a conclusion at the end. As others have said, there were warning signs for years.
I met Terry a number of times and went to 2 GTGs that he had. The first was at his house (where I first met the Wendell), the second at his shop in Wartburg. Bought a few items from him (a blown up 390, bars, files, chains, etc.), but always in person.
My take on his business was that he was overextended. He would be doing repair work and then have to come out front to help a customer. Like many small businesses, he was likely undercapitalized and lived off his cash flow. I suspect that when he started selling Husqvarna and Dixon that at some point the floor plan payments got behind or ceased, creating a domino effect.
We would see this on AS, someone would sell a saw and be paid and claim they had no money for shipping. Usually things have been off the rails for a bit until someone gets the nerve to speak up and then other victims pop up as well. No one likes to admit they were a sucker and were taken advantage of.
I believe Terry claimed he went through 2 bouts of Lyme Disease. I do recall him posting on AS when he had his shop how fatigued and foggy he was, which can be symptoms. When Ann got sick I think he claimed that her cancer was one of less than 10 cases ever reported. I do not recall where she was diagnosed, but I would imagine that only a major cancer center would have that expertise, not a hospital in Tennessee.
I think Ann came to the GTG at Jeremy Barger’s (Wigglesworth) after her diagnosis and I was surprised at how well she looked. I did not think too much about it at the time but I do hope a fraud was not perpetrated on us.
