Some of the fellas gave me the grand idea of noodlings for a nest in there. I'm doing that. I may even cut a piece of wood and nestle the bar in a cut to round out the display. I'll have to make sure its completely dry so as not to rust the bar n chain.

Steve I'd make the kerf double or triple width and varnish it. Even dry wood has acids and other compounds I wouldn't want metal to be in extended contact with.
