Annular cutters remove less material than a drill bit to arrive at the same size hole. They will tolerate higher rpm too. With the back gears the press will drill a 1" hole without a pilot using a fluted bit.. It just ends up being slower.

Over 3 decades old Oerlikon Fincord, 3.2mm stick (core) at mere 105 Amps.
Melts so nicely but keeps drawing magic smoke out of my welder.
We'll see what happens when the magic runs out!

Progress. Still learning how to run this machine. Couldn’t find a machine arbor that fit the tapping head. The guy who set the tooling up for the machine no longer works for the company. It’s a scavenger hunt finding tooling. Thread milling tomorrow.

I see You utilize collets to clamp Your tools.
What ER size are You using?
Will You use a one and done machine tap?

Using ER32. Used a thread mill to cut threads. Did not have anything to hold the big tap head we have. It has a 1.5 inch shank. We use it on a horizontal mill we have. Wasn’t bad after setting it up. Ran about 25 minutes for 9 holes.
