I have an Alaskan mill , the issue was my rental saw limiting my milling width.....
You can remove the bar-tip hardware, and extend the usable portion of the bar. However, the 12-inch is max for (most) home shop planers anyway

I built a router planer jig so i dont have that restriction on width, right now the issues is just waiting for the moisture content to get down to a usable level. It's sitting at 20 percent. Im planning on building a solar kiln in the next few weeks, once i get it to about 12 percent, ill start the real work.....
