that athol is probably close to 100 years old...best vises ever made imo, can still buy the same ones today just made by starrett which is who designed the athol vises. very expensive though, i grew up not to far from starretts and own alot of their tools...I am a Athol. That one is very nice.75 # Rock Island. View attachment 133814 View attachment 133815 I got from my PawInlaw. Thinking of repainting. I like the patina so I might keep it the way it is. Can never have to many vices.
That is a gem. I like the way you mounted it. Is that a 10x10 post of oak? I have one that I want outside.View attachment 133867 Time has forgotten the post vice. But I prefer it to a bench vise. The face will flex to hold angled or odd shaped objects where a bench vise won’t. Also you can pound the crap out of it since they are wrought not cast. This one has been passed down in my family for generations. Dont know how long but it is hand forged still hard at work.
That's a great idea. Does it move at all? Im still looking for a welding table.View attachment 133869 I made this rig for my welding table. I welded a receiver hitch to the table so you can remove it.View attachment 133868
I got this one a while ago, plans are to clean it up and put it back into use.
Everyone knows Wiltons Bullet vices are the Super Bowl Trophy of the vices. I have been looking for a while without any luck. They are up there with anvil prices. I think you can still get NOS jaws for them. Great tool man.I got this one a while ago, plans are to clean it up and put it back into use.
It has a little play but it heavy enough that it’s not much. I started to weld and grind it for a tighter fit but it’s good enough for who it’s for. That's a great idea. Does it move at all? Im still looking for a welding table.
