Never knew this :p
the 288 project I have (yet to build) has just one spring on the tank. All the others are rubber.
what are the advantages/disadvantages of different combinations? Seems there are hard and soft rubbers to play with as well.
I did find 3 of them, nos, and 2 of the big front springs…

I didn’t know there were different rubber hardnesses.

My 266s are all rubber and vibrate. So on my 288 I did all springs. With a full weight 32” bar they were kinda soft and floppy, so I think I changed 2-4 of the front mounts to rubber…I think.

501 81 47-01 soft
501 81 47-02 hard
the spring is considered hard

This kinda build looks like an excellent milling saw. @Stump Shot
Certainly could be, I used to mill with a 281xp as my big saw. Do a few tweaks here and there to the build for milling and I don't see why it wouldn't work just fine. A newer style cylinder with a decompressor valve in it would be the way to go for starting in the jig.

how is the quality on the clutch cover? I rebuilt the OE that came on the saw but the cover isn't in great shape
Overall pretty good. Feels solid. Color match is very close. Brake flag is dark grey vs black. The flag is somewhat different....at least the one I have.... The farmer tech is plastic above the chip guard vs cast oem. IMG_20240308_173359198.jpgIMG_20240308_173457552.jpg

Looks like the brake is quite different, interesting.
Can you remove the 2-4 screws a the plastic piece so we can see inside?

I've had no problems at all with those FT clutch covers
I've used 3 on mine and customers saws
They've held up fine and work properly.

There were a couple of revisions of the cover from Husqvarna, the FT looks like the later model. Hang on to the little bits from the older one. They are hard to track down.
