After lots of headaches with using that Stihl HP Ultra crap ,I 've switched to Amsoil Saber for my lightly modded MS180.
Lightly modded as : installed a Walbro WT-215 clone ,muffler mod to 85% of cylinder exhaust port and drilled open intake snorkel.
I'm using the Saber at 50:1 ratio .
I've set the H jet so that the MS180 hits about 12,500 rpm at WOT
( with 16" bar and 3/8"lp .05 chain /out of cut ) .
So ,I only have three questions for you fine gentlemen .

1 ) Will this ratio provide enough lubrication to the low and top end ?

2 ) Here in Greece ,during summertime temperatures can be more than 113 F . Should I increase the amount of oil in the fuel when the ambient temperature reach those levels ( with retuning the carb of course ) ?

3 ) What do you think about Amsoil Saber quality wise ? I do not seek for a comparison with other 2T mix oils ,just your opinion about this specific one .

Thank you in advance and I hope
that this thread is not going to end up as most oil threads do .

Good luck....

Amsoil is good oil. 50:1 is better than 80:1.....but I'd still go 40:1 after reading about a million pages of oil thread stuff.

40:1 for your bearings and internals would be a good idea.

BTW ,here's couple of photos of the spark plug ( used only with Saber for about 3-4 hours ,from new - NGK CMR6H ) .

Maybe something to consider also ?

Fuel used here in Greece is called Benzine ,- can cause cancer ,but I know a dude that sniffs and drinks the stuff since age 13 or something and today he's in his mid-forties,still sniffing the stuff .Basically ,the whole city knows him ,by the nickname "Camel" - deriving from the cigs brand he smokes ...Yeap !
Anyway ,benzine fuel does not contain ethanol or any other alcohol and it comes in various octane grades starting from 85-86 octane ,up to 100 octane -which has the most additives, like preservatives, cleaning agents ,etc as also is the most expensive,
at more than 2,4€ per liter ( 0.264 of a gallon ) .Roughly about 10$ per gallon .

I usually go for the 91-95 grade ,
which is slightly cheaper ,while having tested the whole octane grade range ,i think I'm getting the most power and cooler running engine at that range of
91 to 95 octane grade.

Plug is pretty rich. Could be tuned maybe 500 or 1000 RPM leaner
Stihl manual states max power at 10,000 rpm and max rpm of 14,000.
Stock . When brand new ,200 -300 meters ( ~ 60-100 feet ) above sea level had a whopping 15,700 rpm as a factory setting !
It has the strato engine ( 2-mix ) .
Was advised at AS to keep it at
12,000 to 12,500 rpm . But myself also thought that the spark plug is showing a rich mixture .
Thank you ,sir ,for confirming my thoughts .

I agree with Huskihl and would suggest tuning it to 13,500. That gives you a buffer incase a slight fuel quality or elevation difference leans it out a bit.

#3 I have faith in its quality when mixed at the engine manufacturers recommended ratio.

SABER says 100:1 saw mfg says 50:1 so at 50:1 I am already double the SABER recommendation, how is that for reasoning?

I tend to run B&C on the short end of recommended bar length so perhaps lighter loading has something to with ito_O, been running SABER for 20+ years.

I've been running Saber at 40:1 for several years and no problems of any kind so far. I do tend to run my saws pretty hard when I run them (not all day everyday) so the oil better work...

I have not seen any issues with carbon or any problems with fouling the plug.

I'm running amsoil saber at 32:1 ratio. It's easy to find here in Alaska and is reasonably priced per quart, cheaper than hp ultra or red armor.

Mostly milling with a ported echo cs 1201 and a ported cs 6700, always 16 ft long rip cuts. Could use all the oil I can get, the saws get warm on such a long rip cut, so 32:1 in everything.

It burns clean at 32:1. Years ago, saber didn't have a fuel stabilizer, but it does now.

Here in Greece is also cheaper than
Ultra HP. Red Armor is nowhere to be found here. That's why I think that
Echo has a contract with an oil manufacturer across the pond.
