Animals are tough. It could clot and survive. At least you can light up its eyes at night to find it.
If it’s been an hour make sure you have a gun and go see if it’s dead, if it’s still alive after an hour probably not a real lethal shot. This is what I carry my 10mm for with a bright headlamp or flashlight

I fired at about 5:44 EST. Went back and got the tractor. Found one patch of bright blood about 30 yards from where he stood. Saw his eyes through the brush in my headlamp. Currently waiting a little more to give him a chance to die
End its suffering. A .22lr between the eyes

I went really far back and never found him. Will go back tomorrow and look some more. This is the only blood I found, about 25 yards from where I shot him with my .45-70.

Yes! My buddy who hunts next door spotted it this morning and we got it. The bullet struck the rear part of the lung, a lethal shot but he still ran a ways. Big 7 pointer, live weight around 200!

Right on! Congrats!

What state are you hunting in? Our bucks weigh 200 lbs after being field dressed (180-220 is typical here)..

Only those fat corn fed city deer up in northern part of the state takes a good buck to break 200 dressed. I’ve got a 192, 198 and 207 on wall they’re by far my biggest 3

All our deer down here eat good - corn, soybeans, and alfalfa.
