It's not a through abrasion.
But not far off.
I'm not exactly comfortable using it, but I don't feel like dropping $20-30 on a new one.
It's one of those things where I won't use AM

I would clean the area up, and use a little dab of black RTV on it just to make sure it doesn't open up.

Only on a personal use saw. I would not put it on a customer saw, unless they were okay with it and were aware of the issue.

Kind of like that cylinder that I pulled off of a friend's Stihl. Had a chip in the plating next to the transfer.

If it were my saw, I would've smoothed it out as best as possible and run it. But it wasn't my saw and he wanted a new p/c. Ended up with a Tecomec kit.

No joke,stuff is great.

Don't use it if you are preggers. Make the kid look funny.

No I wouldn't trust it and i would be hunting down what is rubbing /cutting that boot . Time cost would be cheeper to sort it all now, even factoring in a new part . The damage and the "How & Why" is more concerning to me rather than if to get a new boot .

1) blame you-- you obviously don't know how to "tune" a saw
2) charge you for a new OEM part and replace it with some 20 y/o logger part he
Had left over from the last customer he anally induced
3) fix yer broken clutch
4) and most important, buff that lil scratch out with....
Wait for it...

Yup....a belt sander !!!!!!!

+3 on the liquid tape. Bonds well to wire insulation so it should bond to your intake boot after a good cleaning with soapy water. Obviously gotta find the cause of the chaffing before repairing or replacing the boot.
