Just wondering what your experiences of the 461 are, there are still
a few new ones to be had, I like the non mt saws, are the AV numbers
good on these saws.

Do they balance well with the 25 inch factory bar they come with,
how do they oil that bar, how much bigger could they pull and oil.

I note the airfilter is the HD1, is this a problem over the HD2, will a HD2
swap in there, or does the mount need to be changed.

Thanks in advance

The air filter on mine comes with HD2 black one.
The HD1 and HD2 can be swapped. My 440 uses 461's air filter no problem. I still have the original HD1.

Thanks @qurotro , am sure there was a reason for the HD2 filters appearance, nice to know it will fit the 461.

I think the 461 is an excellent choice. I keep a 24" bar on mine and yes it balances well. The 461 uses and comes with the HD2 filter. I don't run a longer bar on it because I have other saws for longer bars. I'm sure it would oil a 28 and maybe a 32. I did a HO oil pump swap on mine.

Thanks @PA Dan , would the standard oiler be good enough for a 25, it will only see occational use with me.

I was going to go Makita again, but they are creeping up in price and with currency differences
and shipping, the gap is too small to ignore.

Anyone know if there is a cat in the muffler of the 461, would be nice not to have to deal with that
right out of the box.

I'm sure it would be fine for a 25" bar!

There is no catalytic converter in the muffler.

It's stihls last breed of tough old school saws.

Some say the design of the saw despite having the same A/V setup as a 460 that it is a little smoother, I agree with that.

The girls here will argue if taking out the baffle or leaving it in affects the torque.

The stock oiler works just fine for a 25" bar.

It will pull a 32" bar in stock trim but don't make any early plans.

Buy it.

Thanks @sawmikaze , pretty much what I have heard, people like the AV over others,
and out of the box the saw is one of the best runners, should have jumped on a full wrap one
new for under the big note, I see a few advertised now but when I rang about one it was not in stock,
have another in my sights, Monday I will know if its really there or just adversied, like a lot of othres were.

Buy a Husqvarna and forgetaboutit...
Hi @P.M.P. , what husky competes with the 461, and what makes it worth buying over the 461.
I was in the saw shop a few weeks ago, and for whatever reason the shelves were quite empty,
I was looking into a Strimmer, but they were gone, and told no more until next year / season,
which is fare enough, still seems like Huskvarna are scarce here in my part.

Ah, but thats a whole different ball game, I like the idea though,
but what would happen if I hit yout ported 372 with a ported 461,
would the 372 no go all pale and run off into the woods never to be heard again.
