I can't find a good enough pic of a new one to let me compare. Mine just spins in circles freely and I believe it should not. Attached are pics.. I have a new copper pipe on the way thanks to Elect but not a worm gear. Do I need one?

So ur saying the little metal tan spins independant of the plastic worm gear? Seems like that should not happen.

Are those 2 separate pieces in my hand? I thought it was just one. I'll have to go check again in a bit

The little metal arm is not supposed to spin freely on the plastic gear. You'll need to replace that too.

Is the metal arm supposed to catch on something to keep it from spinning? I don't know that it does spin but can only assume it does as it looks to be what cut the oil supply tube.

The metal arm locks into one of the two slots on the clutch drum so the oil only pumps while the chain is turning instead of a constant flow. The metal arm needs to be connected to the plastic threaded piece tightly so those threads will turn the pump threads.

When that thing loosened up it probably ended up offset far enough to make contact.

Is threads on worm gear in good shape and does it make good contact with oil pump gear? Is oil pump gear in good condition? That metal triangle shaped are is molded into plastic gear, when in place it will turn oil pump easily (may feel slight resistance). As Jim stated clutch drum will engage that gear arm. Looks like clutch came into contact with case.

If that's a 372 I hope the bushing under that didn't come out with it.

If you're lucky like me it will take a week to fix the airleak

If you pulled bushing out, make sure to replace o-ring. Have seen worm gears melt to bushing. Worm gears are cheap and I prefer old two wing style, but both will do the job. You can tell me o-ring is not needed, but that's crap.;)

You do not need one if your clutch drum notch catches it and is flush with outer edge of drum.

Send me your address and I will mail you one on Monday. Yes it is broken, after I took a second look at it.
