Anybody heard of or have any info on old Windsor chain grinders? A guy I know has one he wants to sell and from what I could see the model was FL6. It’s a silver colored unit with all the pan/tilt functions and a reversible motor. Was pretty dusty but looked in great condition underneath. He said he got it from the old McCulloch dealer in town.

Pictures would help. Several grinders with different names were variations of the common Oregon / Tecomec style grinders. Or just sold under a different name. But there were other styles and manufacturers as well. Windsor 136, Efco FL6, Efco FL136 came up in a Google search.

If it is in good condition, and you can get wheels for it, it might be a good deal.

Here is a link to an old A.S. thread:

And another forum:

Seem to be a Tecomec style grinder from those posts. Wheels and a manual should be available.

Thank you Philbert! I’ll do a little more digging and try and get a picture.

that being said how was the quality of those older grinders? Seem better built than some grinders these days from what I’ve seen.

The quality of the current Oregon and Tecomec grinders is fine. The $100 clones / knock-offs are another story.

The wheels do the grinding; quality wheels make a big difference over the cheap ones.

I believe Windsor to be Tecomec made. But reversible motor makes me question that logic. You got me on this one.

It’s definitely an old setup, from the 80’s I’d think. Very little use though.

I picked up this Efco FL136 yesterday. It's reversible.
