Who makes this 3/8LP .050? I am looking to buy a 100' roll if I can find reasonable. My vendor only appears to sale in cut loops which I am not going to buy even length loop just to have it in stock when I can break and mend chains on demand.

The quick answer to who makes it is probably China but that is not helpful. It is impossible to tell based on that picture but it looks like a Oregon copy. The easiest is to just buy a 100 foot reel of Oregon.

Other brands sell that chain by the roll too, we sold bulk Stihl chain where I worked. 3/8lp can be finicky to break and get back together. My recommendation is to get a couple of trashed loops you can practice punching the rivets and resetting tie straps without fear of messing up good chain. 3/8lp takes patience to not roll the chain while punching or not pressing the rivets too much while setting. Don't be stingy with oil when setting the rivets.

One of the problems is the Oregon catalog don't show this chain. Now I can get the low kickback chains from just anybody. It just style seems to impossible to find and it is the best plunge chain I have come across. I use what left making wedge holes in blocks of wood the wedge just won't just started in.

Do you have a better picture, one that we might be able to make out a makers mark or something? Doing a Google search brought up chain sold by Proven Part that shows close to your profile chain on their box, but the chain they have with it does not match. Might be worth contacting them to see if they do carry the profile you are looking for.

I would think you think a full skip or rip 3/8 LP are ugly but they do have their specialize purpose. Just like the 3/8 LP carbide tip chain I use here. I don't use it a lot but when needed it get thrown into mix when rocks are involved.

To reference Rotary has the loops. Reference Page 915 in their 2025 Catalog.

Carbide tips are also helpful for plunge cutting in the ground to sever roots before pulling a stump!
Especially for someone removing 24+ Bradford tree stumps. They just won't rotten quickly enough.

As long I don't find "BUZZ" an underground electric line that someone buried. At least I know to have the main power off. I know where the one I buried down at 18+ inches. That one has a 70 amp 220v breaker. I found one the other cables when installing my cable. It is not even underground rated and 6 inches down. What an idiot that did it. Code is 18" residential and 24" plowed fields. These are the bare minimums, deeper is better for safety.

My thought exactly, but I didn’t want to be the first to pour on the cold water. I call those chains “dinosaur humps” because I think the additional bumper link looks like a stegosaurus. They should go the way of the dinosaurs too.

Okay guys I just buy some of the loops then Break and Mend as needed but I had preferred not to as loops usually cost more per DL. I did get it down to 0.184 per DL.

If this chain will work for you, they do sell it in a 100' roll:

There is the answer to your question on post #1 Post #7 shows a box and second line from the bottom 91PXL should get it in 25ft and 100 ft rolls from Oregon dealers (Like "Loggerchain.com")
If the price scares you just use it as a reference standard for what Oregon calls it "control cut" or something.

Years ago Oregon used to make 72sg. Might find some on Ebay? It won't be lp though.

91pxl I "Think is full chisel (100ft at 399$ and tax and free shipping
91PX is chamfer (?semi?)chisel at 100ft at 375$
Loggerchain.com I am not sure if this is a sale price.

Hacskaroly stuff is cheaper if it has free shipping.

Heck if I got to use Oregon low kickback style I just go with TriLink @ $166 / 100' and order 10 ea of the Rotary 7221062 loops @ $11.41 ea. , Retail $19 ea. On the Rotary 7221062 I'll just break and mend when I need few DLs. Hence I can do 45% GPMU on the TriLink and still be below the cost of the Oregon chain and save the customer half his normal costs.

BTW I personally know the TriLink is very good chain. I have sold a lot of it over the last 15 yrs. But I was just needing the guard strap version for personal use and some pole saws chain replacements.

I hate chains with those bumpers as I run my chains until I start loosing cutters. The rakers would end up lower than the bumpers

$tihl seems to make the best 3/8 picco/lp, but it's gotten terribly expensive.

I've used a lot of their 63PMX for milling with an 066 on a Logosol mill. Gives smooth boards right up until it's filed down and you start loosing cutters. Left Coast Supplies, before they went out of business, had 25" loops for $21, I bought a bunch wish I had bought a roll.

Clear FAS 5/4 cherry that was too nice for firewood.

I use 63PM or 63PS on small saws (semi- and full chisel, no bumpers).
