Anybody run these from HLSupply? What are your experiences with them? How do they compare to the OEM HD2 in terms of filtering and durability?

I've been running them for the last year or so with no complaints. They seem to be just as good as the oem hd2 in my opinion. Time will tell as far as durability, however at $3-4 a piece just toss em out if in doubt.

I've run them on several of my saws and they work fine. I prefer the HD-2s, but there are several on this site who would disagree.

My testing has shown the HD-2s to be a hair stronger (better cut times), but it is very close, no major difference.

I also think the HD-2s are a bit easier to clean, as the pleats are are a bit wider apart, but again, others disagree.

For the money, they are a good deal.

I like the HD2s better as well for all the reasons mentioned however I like to believe the AM ones are slower because they are filtering the air better and choking the saw up some in the process.

Either way I have run these white filters and will continue to do so when it is convenient.

I had the opposite effect milling with HD 2. Once they get a little wet from spitback they stop up quickly and need washed good instead of tapped out. The white ones can be tapped out and not need deep cleaning as often. Max flow fixes all those problems since they'll go 20 tanks milling.

I always mount my HD-2s the same side up, various saws have various amounts of spitback (or not), and it is almost always on the bottom. If the top 3/4 of the filter stays clear, the pleated filter will give you more than enough air for your saw, the pleats provide multiple times the surface area of a non pleated filter.

The AM filter are often so jammed up that I think you often don't get full use of the pleats, hence the slower times.

I don't think the AM filters any better than HD-2, but they do seal differently, and some saws seem to prefer one over the other (they are not all the same). If you carefully install your HD-2s, I have never had a problem with fines.

:stick: I've never had to clean the filter on my 394/5's.

Just my two cents. Any somewhat clean filter is better than none. It's a chainsaw, not a dirt bike in Baja.
