Medium - 261 with 20 inch bar and 3/8" .050" chain
Large - 046/066

All depends what an how you are cutting.

Best Stihl saws well depends on what demanda you going to be asking it to do "f" the new carp from any saw company and think of it this way there's a lot of older saws out there that still run as good as they did when new I personally think the best Stihl saws ever made and all around all purpose saws are the pro series 028 the 038 and 044 and the 064-066 you just can't beat those saw hands down the greatest Stihl saws ever made.....

I’m partial to a good ported 461 myself. I liked the older 026 pro’s a lot for a little saw. Off the shelf I think the 500i is really nice.

Kid has never ran 10 saws and he knows 5he best ones already.

4. Stihl MS 194 C ( MY first saw I bought that I now use for carving )
5. Stihl MS 170 ( MY saw, not my dad's )
6. Stihl MS 261 C-M (I bought it when I turned 14)
7. Stihl MS 201 T
8. Stihl MSA 60 C ( It paid itself off in a day making wood pumpkins and got me on Carving Fusion
)

Some guy's favor the 262
For lighter weight professional saws
I'll go with the Husqvarna 266xp is my sentimental favorite
But a ported 371/372 Husqvarna or 2171/2172 jonsereds
are my pick for everyday professional use.
For large tree falling i still like a ported 281/288
I'm old.
