trimmer was running fine, this happened while it was running, not in use by me at the time.
Don't know if it was at idle or if at speed, but was told engine just stopped, I suspect while at 3000+ rpm.
User tried to then restart and could not spin the engine.
Upon tear down, the flywheel and all external components were intact, could only spin flywheel by hand not more than 180 degrees.
The bottom crank pan of motor had hole in it, about the size of half of a dime.
what would cause what happened in the pics below?
I could not pull the piston out of the cylinder (using needle nose pliers and 30 seconds of my patience).

Looks like there are "chunks" plastered on that crank case half/cylinder bottom?!
If so, something gave up flung around and finally seized the piston causing the shaft to bend.

I had something similar happen to my first trimmer.

Or, she bounced too high and reentry was unsuccessful! :p

This needs to be posted in the carnage thread.

They are not built very strong, just strong enough to last until it's out of warranty.
That conrod can be straightened.
I agree. They are not a forged I-beam rod like truly well-built trimmers. Usually the side of the rod is sort of shot peened, I guess to try to add some strength and reduce stress.
