I was several pages on one of those nonsense threads. I grew up a little and left and am not going back. I tried to redeem myself by starting a new thread about my Dad's chainsaws. So far so good. There are a lot of good interesting reads on here so far. Sorry for cluttering it up with garbage for a few days. I'll be good now.

The concept of "self moderation" is a utopian theory. Sounds good and "should" work but the reality of it is that sooner, rather than later, some idiot is going to show up and start filling the posts with troll comments and make the site unpleasant. With the obscurity of the internet, as opposed to the risk of getting your nose flattened by someone's fist in "real life", people say anything they want regardless of how inflammatory it is. It seems to bring out the worst in people. We'll see how it goes...

I have hopes that this is finally the place I can hang my hat and invest some time into,
been signed on to a half dozen other saw related sites but so far none has seemed like 'home'.
Been a bit... jaded I guess... in that over the years I've gotten pretty deep in some other hobby type forums
only to have them abruptly disappear or the best people move on to other things and are gradually replaced by 'useless content' types.
Have had hundreds of pages of my content just go away...
Jury is still out on this one.
So far the only real negative here (and for me a big one) is the over-the-top post whoring, really dilutes the place.
If that subsides after this contest, I'll likely start putting some time in here.

We all know some moderation will be needed. Bruce wants this forum to be family friendly, and I agree.
When Scott was posting his snackie pics in every thread, there were two or more members that had people looking over their shoulder when those pics came up on their screen. Other member had his young daughter in his lap when they appeared.
We have a few guys posting swear words in memes. We need that to stop.
If the swear word filter edits a word, that means it should not be posted in a pic either........right?
Common sense, and respect is all it takes.
