I have one down. 38" at stump. Good for anything?
Not sure if desirable but looks to me like it might be nice in there.
I can not rip it or haul it.
If interested let me know. Western Pa.

Tulip poplar is used for many things. If I had some I would cut it for board and batten for a shed. It weathers to a nice gray. We have a lot of it in my area and is cut commercially for quite a variety of uses.

It can make a nice table but it’s soft. I suggest an epoxy finish.

It’s not worth milling. It’s soft, but once dry it certainly hardens up.

I use it for test cuts only. I also split it for use in the fire pit. It’s light and burns nicely and fast. I save the better wood for winter heating.

Still here, for now. Nice big crouch about 10' up.
I thought rot in center but none so far.

Years ago I burned a few loads of poplar from the big river valley. Different though as this one has dark heart wood. The river wood maybe yellow poplar but I'm not schooled in that.
Yes it burns fast. Not the best firewood but it's here.

Anything you'd use dimensional pine for(except outdoor, unprotected use), you can mill that poplar and use it. Especially considering todays lumber prices! Definitely mill it up.

The butt is still here, still time for anyone to play with their milling saw. I don't have a running large enough saw yet.
I bet it ends in firewood.
The good news, 98% of the brush is gone.

It won't last long at all laying on the ground.
I’ve had a tree on the ground since September 18’. I cleared out around it and debarked and under it. It’s still in good shape. Sap wood is showing deterioration but all heat wood is good. It probably has 9 big slabs before I deem it firewood. It is hot and humid here for April - October.

Well, for firewood, Yellow Poplar - Tulip and Butternut are rated the poorest for firewood, but, I burn it with no problems. It just burns fast with low heat. I think it makes pretty boards. I never tried it, but, I think it would look great just with Tung oil.

I have a big-er saw ready. With weather heat index at 95 degrees the butt is going to lay there this weekend.
Not in a hurry to dehydrate.

I added fans to my chainsaw helmet and my new welding helmet and it has made a big difference staying cool, especially the chainsaw helmet when I have boots, chaps, and gloves on. I last much longer.

Good idea with fans, don't dry up.
Worked a lot outside my whole life.
Recent Doc says time to limit the sunshine intake.
This old wimp is ok with that.
Did get the last load of brush out this AM, pace myself lol.
This not a paying gig.

Cooler weather incoming.
