Just picked up a well used Stihl ts-400. Don't know if it runs, but had compression. It looks to be ran with an air leak or straight gas with the scoring on the intake side of the cylinder. Assuming I'll need a new top end parts, are bearings common failure on chop saws. There is a big difference between an overhaul kit with and without crank and bearings. And the fact I don't have a splitting tool, I'll probably have to get that work subbed out.

If the saw had dirt ingestion, I would go ahead and do new bearings. It isn't that hard to do a crankcase without a "splitter".
