I installed one, unknowingly this past year. Didn't even know such a thing even existed. Due to the freezing(?) temperatures it was very difficult to plug in a tool or a cord this past winter. Now it is not gripping plugs well, and some cords do not work. Grrrrrrrr...

I am going to purchase a new receptacle and get it installed. I looked at the past purchases and, in its description, says nothing about this Tamper Resistance(TR) feature. I looked them up and according to the site I was reading these TR Receptacles are suppose be the new thing, the new standard.

Anybody else experiencing any problems with these new receptacles? I'm not at all happy. Seems like these TRs are a solution looking for a problem to solve.

Ya they such massive blue whale #@#&!

They were made for over protective parents who dont believe in a child learning by making mistakes, and do not believe in the philosophy of pain being the ultimate teacher. Unless your child was like me ( at 3yrs ) who loved popping the breaker with anything that would fit into them lil holes to see sparks fly. I asked my mom years later if I said it hurt when I was little and she said yes and my father chimed and and said obviously not enough though......she still has a spoon that has a melted notch in it for me LoL!

And yet we still have stoves and cooking surfaces. There's a Million Ways to Die in a Home.

Turns out all my sheit is getting old. Not only do I hate the TR Outlet, but my extension cord is partially at fault. Ordered new terminal ends. Seems like I did a bunch of this only a few years ago. I guess I should have been proactive and just gone ahead and replaced all plugs and receptacles and not just the ones acting all uppity.

Yeh. The receptacles and switches that get the same amount of use will start failing about the same time, kinda like lightbulbs and bird dogs.
