What’s the advantage of this over say a 4x4 backhoe? Just curious

I don’t need a backhoe. The bucket thing was just interesting. I might want that but for sure a log splitter/grapple that could also be a rake.

For me, it would primarily be for the machine and welding shop. Rides better and won’t get stuck in our dirt yard. They make towables with surge brakes so we can tow behind our flatbed F700 for pickups and deliveries. 30’ lift height. Also tow to tree jobs with my deuce or pickup. One problem with fork trucks that size is it’s probably too heavy to pull behind most pickups because of the counterweight. I’d guess that’s north of 20k lbs. Deuce would have no problem though with an equipment trailer. Could also look into the smaller 4 x 4 telehandlers as well. They are pretty versatile

If you were looking for old we have one of these JD 380s and it’s a great field forklift. Much higher capacity than our old skid loader and relatively simple. Downside is older controls and no traction on the drive tires when you’re unloaded. It’s a problem on slight hills with loose dirt or ice. We use it to load and move bins of pumpkins in the fields in the fall and it’s pretty good for that. It can get stuck but it doesn’t sink in like the old Hyster that we have.
