Hello everyone. I have a question for the 550xps little brother 545.. Does anyone know what the needle height should be set too on the carb? Walbro AT-1 here specifically, but I assume it would be the same for the 550xp carb?

Here's a little reading for you, some you may find helpful, some not.

Thanks @Tor R ! I did not know that thread existed :( It looks like my needle is low from the factory.. unless someone has been in it before. Based on the stiffness of the diaphragm and the condition of the pump side, I think it's original.

BTW, I hope your feeling stronger every day! :coleman:

Hi @Tor R Hope you are feeling better! Have you had a chance to check one of the other AT-1s for needle height?
sorry, I had forgot it :(
Went and found one AT-1 and AT-7 carb (550 year 12 and 14), both of them look to have the same needle height, and none of them has height flush with the body.
My eyes tell me that they are at least 0.5mm lower, maybe even a whole 1mm

What bearings are used in the 550?
Are they proprietary ones or just standard bearings with seals?

Looks like I'm going to be working on my first 550 at some point.
Dad brought his over yesterday and said he can't get the muffler to stay tight. So I put it up on the bench and looked at it.
Looks like he kept hitting the muffler as he used it. It finely cracked the lower ears on the muffler then loosened up at the cylinder and striped the holes out.

I'm guessing he will just end up getting a new one as this one has a ton of hours on it.

So my question is.... What are the must have updates for these saws if I end up rebuilding it down the road?
It's a 2013

Before or later we will all end up to work with one of those 5xx saws Brian.
He isnt the first one to knock off the muffler :D
To bad you dont live in Norway Brian, next time I ship over to US I gone trow in some 550 parts for your dad.

Preasure test is must do on them since AT hide small leaks, I had a 550 with blown PTO bearing amd the top end had survived!
The only update I would do is AT firmware upgrade, I read on a sweedish forum that Husky just updated their program.
