Welp.....the 4th was a huge success, at least from our perspective. So, with Glenda's blessing, we will do it again next year. We will stick with the 2nd weekend in October.

I'm always hoping to hear from you folks about things we need to improve on, so by all means, please speak up.

First on my list of improvements is water. We need to have running water at the barn. The problem is that the telephone company cut the water line repeatedly while running fiber optic line. At the time it was shut off, and they may not have even known they cut it.

The only solution is to run a new line. Jonathan and I will try to get that done before next time.

Next order of business is the build off saw. We will be doing the Husqvarna 395XP.

At first I thought about including stroker motors and allowing them a class of their own. The only problem with that is that there are only a couple of guys who machine a crank to do that mod, and I don't wanna see them overwhelmed with requests. Another concern is time. It took awhile to run all the various classes this year, and pushed the cant racing into the afternoon.

So....let's just do stock stroke motors.

Also....the 394XP will be included, as will any combination of 394/395 saws.

This year we made a cut from each end on a 24x24 bundle of poplar. Then we ran them in a 12x12. The final "score" was the average of all three cuts. For the next build off, we will drop the 12x12 cut. Again, it's about the time it takes to do all that.

    So.....to condense it down:

The 2020 build off saw will be the Husqvarna 395XP and 394XP of stock stroke, and stock bore. No expansion chamber pipes on these saws. Muffler saws.

Class one: My chain, my fuel.

Class two: Your chain, my fuel.

The rules are simple. As long as your saw is of stock stroke, and bore, anything else is ok.

Wanna run a two piece head? Cool.

    Huge carb? Great.

    Velocity stack? Sure.

It's more fun if we can keep it simple. Too many rules stifle creativity.

    Questions?

    Comments?

    MILD criticisms?

Just an idea. What about handing out the t shirts as people arrive ? That way we could do a cool group photo Saturday afternoon. I know it's a PIA to collect money in an ongoing basis. Maybe have the shirts laid out in the open convention center in stacks with names in them and an honor jar for payment. No change required. If someone only has a 20 for 1 shirt too fugging bad. Put er in ....

Edit and a check off . Grab your shirts/shirt. Drop money. Cross name off.

I got a logging 395 to bring. Might be slow and cut crooked and not sure about the lie of the cookies but we'll see what happens!

    Thinking.......

I'll ask my granddaughter Jasmine to set up a tee shirt stand.

Gonna do a little different design. They will probably be 20.00 rather than 15.00.

She'd love doing that I believe.

Second weekend is always better for me.

How about name tags to wear like I've seen in the past? I can remember faces, but not names & with their usernames.

Don't worry, there was plenty of crooked cutting this year. It helps if you go first, so you don't have to follow someone else's crooked cut.

Little food for thought...this time on the shirts include ‘Jamestown, TN’ either straight across the bottom, or in a semi-radial fashion, underneath the main logo/design you come up with.

Second weekend will always be tough. The idea of a week long road trip didn’t work this year, need a new tact to try this year. Thanksgiving is a hard one to be away.

Those who don't attend next year get a special shirt that says "I did NOT attend The 5th Annual MMWS GTG 2020"
