I'm guessing 10 years ago I bought this trimmer new at Sears, $50 since tag says leaks oil. Well...it always has.
Today after sitting a few years I changed oil, gas in it...it runs great.
I remember thinking maybe it was a bad oil fill tube o ring which I replaced.
It must be a common problem on these. Anyone know the fix?
Thanks.20200426_151535.jpg20200426_151456.jpg20200426_151436.jpg

This might help.

The shop manual also indicates that the oil breather return holes must face down. It may have been incorrectly when you bought it.

It also states that any air leaks due to leaking gaskets or "O" rings could prevent a partial vacuum from forming in the crankcase.

Yes, the oil fill tube leaks on every one of those frickin things. Fortunately an easy fix. If it has a sloppy fit even with a new o ring add a bit of Permatex #2 pliable sealant. There should also be a rubber breather hose and maybe a little airbox on the side of the crankcase near the carb which can leak too.

Thanks! Anyone JB Weld the oil fill tube in place? I'm thinking of doing that.

I doubt the JB Weld would hold due to the vibration. Or, it would work a little too well and you would never be able to replace the tube if needed. Permatex #2 excels in this sort of application. It is gooey and seals well, but never dries completely hard so it withstands vibration.
