Gimmick parlor trick cut, don’t try this at home.

Now that that’s out of the way, one of the best I’ve seen.

That was an impressive swing. No way I could get a hardwood to do that though lol

I don’t have instagram either. Click the link and you should be able to watch it at least once.
Nope, doesn't work. Goes straight to a login page for instagram.

Interesting. When I click it, it brings me to the video, but a pop-up comes up asking if I want to sign up. I just click the “not now” option and get to watch the video.. 🤷🏻‍♂️

It works better on the trees with lots of green wood.
Definitely not a parlor trick and useful in the right situation. Not sure I'd mess around with that on a tree with a 32" DBH or bigger? Weight can be a factor.

Yes, but no. Poplar is physically closer to pine than most other hardwoods. Poplar is much easier to maneuver than White Oak for example.
I`m no "tree guy" but I`ve always considered poplar as a softwood. Especially when it is concerning firewood.

Thank you! I I only mentioned poplar as I had just did a swinging poplar a couple of days prior.
Always kinda considered soft has needles and hard has leaves or deciduous, poplar, cottonwood, basswood being considered a hardwood.

I think one of the biggest issues with swinging trees is crown size, an oak grown in the open city has a much larger crown vs a oak which has grown in the crowded woods or any tree for that matter.

As a timber faller swinging tree was just something you did and did not think much about it.

Yes. Crown weight, trunk sweep, and lean and all considerations. And every variable matters. I rarely use a sizwell on anything. I have used it with success on a few trees that I needed to “spin” around another tree in the direction of fall, but otherwise in my line of work, it’s not needed often.

i usually dont cut enough off my bottom face on the swing side and it'll turn just a little but with a very spiky stump on that side.
