Stihl worm gear

The worm on my 661 was toast, so had to buy a worm and spring from the dealer. Since it not put together, what is the correct way to mount the spring to the worm. I've got ideas, but I thought I'd ask first before I dove in. That in itself is progress!!

Well, I hope it comes with a visual, trying to visualize it now...

If you have snap ring pliers just use them to open the shaft enough to get it over the worm gear.
