Just wondered if anybody has tried mounting a Oregon E031 mount bar to a D025 mount saw? (with spacers of course) Are the adjuster holes spaced the same and do the oil holes line up?
Found a good deal on a 16" E031 mount bar. I have a Stihl 028 super I'm hoping to get fixed up if not too much $$$.
It's a nice old Windsor Speed Tip

I know theres a fellow who makes an adapter for that so it must be feasible.
I've got a 32 D025 for my 088 so a little reverse engineering should work.

The oiler hole on the E031 bars sit quite a bit higher than on a D025 bar. I’ve modded an E031 bar to work with D009 with an adapter, and it’s definitely doable, just takes a little work. The best 14mm mount bar to run on a D025 or D009 mount saw is the D033. That’s the old large Dolmar mount. The oiler holes line up, and all you need is an adapter on the bar studs.

Why in the world did Windsor make a 16" bar to go on a E031 mount saw? Everyone would be snickerin if you put this on an 088. You'd probably have 14" of usable bar with a spike :meparto:

Maybe the mount was incorporated on some small saws?

Maybe for old hardwoods. The Aussies use short bars for post ripping.

@SOS Ridgerider
Do they make a D033 in 16"?

I haven’t seen them in shorter than 20”, but that doesn’t mean they don’t exist, or have existed. @166 may be able to clear it up. He knows the older stuff much better than me.

Yeah, i guess if you wanted your saw lighter, you could put a 16 on it. You could still take down a 22" tree working side to side. A lot of unnecessary stress on the nose though IMO. I'll probably drill the rivets out of the tip and mount the carcass for "off saw" .050 filing.

So... I paid $24.28 for the 3/8 nose. They're getting harder to find anyway.
Albeit, I'll have to find rivets.
