Just wondering if anyone had any info on when we can expect the Arctic Wrap version for the 462? I spoke to my dealer yesterday and he still wasn’t sure when we would see them here.

Just wondering if our friends across the pond had any info on what’s going on?

I looked into getting one from up your way, but there was no sign of them yet or any idea of when as well.

I was pretty happy to be able to get some 461 wrap arctics from up there, however!

Got to love the 461’s!! Ya I’ve been wanting to grab a 462 for some time now as my 461’s are my smallest saw at the moment but with how our winters go I usually won’t buy it until the Arctic Wrap is available. My dealer just finally got the heated wraps for the 572 just a couple of weeks ago, I think they’ll be a big seller around here. A couple of guys I know that run them seem to really like them.

I initially really liked the 462, but for me it seemed to be the new saw fantasy. I don’t really care for it too much now, but some people love it. It seemed much better with a dual-ported exhaust, but that has to go with fire season here, and after that it just never seemed great to me. I like the 572 a lot more personally, but it is ported.
You can’t go wrong with a 461 however. It does vibrate some more than springs, but it is definitely manageable. It is still plenty lightweight, and a good solid production falling saw.
I was so happy to get heated handlebars. Our winters aren’t as extreme as yours I believe, but it sure is nice to have even on just nasty rainy days.

I'm not much help when it comes to Arctic saws--we don't have them here. Maybe one of the guys further north can inquire. @BonScott46

Any part numbers for the heated wrap? I could always try to order the handles out of Germany and ship them.

Is it just the lack of performance with a longer bar that is lacking or something else? Guys love them here but most of them are running them with a 20 inch...

I personally think the 462 isn’t designed for a longer bar with its lighter weight. I run 28” and longer on all my current saws but if I end up getting a 462 it will probably live with a 24”/25” on it. I just want it for doing firesmart programs where you end up limbing a ton of standing timber, not a ton of falling involved with it.

Yeah, pretty much. When I first was using it, we were right on the coast in Sitka spruce, which is pretty soft. Once we were in more fir, it just lacks the bottom end torque. Some people will disagree, but I definitely find the 461 to have more torque than the 462. The shortest bar I have is a 28, and overall I prefer the 461 for the torque and overall build of the saw. Plus I have a lot of them!

That's what the guys in Redding are saying- the 462 just doesn't have the guts for west coast falling. The two guys I talk to are pretty happy with the 661, 461, and are even still running their 660s.

My best buddy who is cutting in Cecilville right now for the helicopter is sticking with the 660 and 661.
