I was at the dealer Saturday to pick up some parts, and ask about the 441 shortage/ discontinuance. He told me that when he placed a new order with his sales rep, he was told not to bother ordering any 441's, that they were gone. Apparently there were too many problems with them, and that's why they stopped production. So he said we should see a 442 soon. I thought some of you guys might could confirm this, or maybe have heard something different. So what's the rumors?

I think the 441 was the first Mtronic to come to market and maybe first strato pro saw? 70cc class is a popular pro choice. I agree with treesmith & hope it retains its good aspects and looses a little weight/size. It would be nice if they just gave us what we want.

I don't know how they sold in the first place. The 461 weighs the same and has more power. A no brainer if you ask me. Plus the 461 will still fit in the cool little orange saw case :D. I have an 044 and like it, but it was a freebie. My company has a 441 with a 28" bar and it seems quite a bit heavier than the 044, especially in the nose.

I had contacted Stihl by their website asking about the MS441. I asked if it was discontinued or not, the reply I received on 6/13/16 was as follows: The production of the MS441 series was halted in early 2015 due to assembly line issues. This model is expected to be back early 2017.
