Looking for some help on this 056 I picked up. Got it from a local dealer for 50 bucks and it was missing the clutch, clutch bell, and side cover. I tore the saw down to inspect and clean the saw up. The saw is in amazing shape. The problem is when I start the saw the clutch over expands and the center section comes flying off the saw. The part numbers for the clutch and bell match the ipl so I am not sure if got the wrong parts or if I am missing a piece

I’ve tightened it done the same way I’ve done every saw, I guess I should probably find a torque spec for it.

Nope brand new clutch and springs (Oem), when you rev it up the clutch expands and is ok but as soon as you let off the trigger the center section comes flying off. I just torque the clutch on with my impact gun just like every other saw I’ve done.

That sounds like it's not tight enough. Put a bar and chain on her, bury it in a log and make a couple of cuts without letting off the throttle and the torque will tighten down the clutch.

That should be working. The clutch usually tightens itself using its left-hand thread. Something else is goofy. Threads might be stripped.

I've had them come off other saws from not being tightened enough. Might try thoroughly cleaning the shaft threads and clutch threads with alcohol. Give a few extra bursts with the impact wrench.

Clutch torque specification is (depending on source) 45Nm to 50Nm.

Like @redline4 said, or set the chain brake and start it. I don't make it a habit to run a saw with the clutch installed without a bar and chain.

Looks like a nice find!

Keeping a chain on will act like a shock absorber and keep the clutch stable and loaded so it can't unscrew when you let off the throttle.

I was servicing saws on site for a tree co a few weeks ago and found a husky with the clutch on backwards. I didn't have an impact wrench but was lucky it wasn't tight and got it off with vise grips. I fired it up and put the clutch back on at idle. I may have blipped the throttle a little as I put it on.

You’re sure your order is correct for reassembly? Also, is it the right clutch and drum for that saw?

If so, use a torque wrench if it can torque left handed nuts. If not use a ratchet or breaker bar so you have good feel for how tight it is. As woodslasher said, get it into some wood and load the saw up.
