I have a nice running 050/051 that I plan on using for bucking up an ash that was dropped at my house, saw is currently setup 21" .404 .063, was planning on getting a 30" .404 .063 for it. Any reason it won't pull it? Unfortunately I don't have the option to convert it to 3/8 as the clutch drums/sprockets are getting hard to come by.

I don't see why it couldn't pull a 30", but if you want a rim drive there's one in the link below for ~$20. I always search for the generic Oregon p/n and usually I can find the drums a lot cheaper. Both my 87cc 045 and 93cc 056 can pull 36" x .404 setups completely buried in pine or mostly buried in oak no sweat so an 051 should be able to pull a 30" x .404 setup just fine.

Thanks! Unfortunately my 050/051 has the pin style oil pump drive so that won't work.

Thanks guys! Gonna order that along with a new Oregon bar. I'll have my Stihl dealer make me a chain. D025 mount from Oregon is same as 3003 mount?

3002 is medium mount, Oregon A318?
I'm not 100% sure, google is your friend.
There may be some others to chime in that know more about Stihl guide bars.

E031 or E039 is what I'm coming up with for the extra large-mount Stihl bars.

Mike Acres sight doesn't list bar mount for that saw.
30" is listed as maximum bar length for that saw tho.

28" @ .404 might do well.
24" probably a better bet.
IMHO.

Will there are basically 2 stihl mount options for that size of saw . Either 12mm or 14mm . 3003=D025 12mm or 3002=E031 14mm.
Oregon bars are relatively easy to swap sprocket noses on from 3/8ths to .404. As long as all chain is .063 guage.
