Hey all. I’ve got a Stihl 044 I’m in the process of breaking down and was looking for opinion on some damage to the crankcase by the rear AV. From a cost perspective would it be better to have this repaired (if possible) or source another crankcase half?

Any help appreciated!

Sourcing another case half would be cheapest and easiest, but sometimes Stihl case halves don't mix and match due to differences in the mounting
heights on the deck (where the cylinder mounts). It could be welded, and @srcarr52 is absolutely amazing at welding and fixing case halves.

@jacob j. That was exactly my thought on sourcing another case half, I’ll end up with more halves . Thanks for the response!

$35 plus shipping to repair. You have to break it down to just the case half.
