I'm looking for some information on if anyone has ever tried to put a taller piston from another saw in an 039 ms390. This saw being a clamshell is almost impossible to set squish on without major machining. I was wondering if there was a piston available that had a taller pin to crown height, but the ring ends were still close enough to where they needed to be without hanging. I may be asking for a lot but it's a serious question.

And to let you know this saw will either have the band cut or a popup depending on how tall the piston is.

What's your squish now with the OEM piston?

I've welded a dome as well, but that won't fix a loose squish.

1 possibility is a stihl ts400 concrete saw. I heard it once but never looked into it. Same bore, stroke, rings, and open port, but I think it's 1mm taller

I don't think it's that much taller. I remember stumpy did a swap. But the specs don't show it being taller.

What about a ts350 from pictures I've seen it appears to have a dome shape kind of like a homelite.
