This is the first saw other than a 660/460 that I’ve cracked into in quite some time. Cant get the old girl to run.

Got fuel, spark, compression.

Cant even get a pop out of it.

Cracked the side cover and found a mess of wires spliced together with residential wire nuts.

Got to searching the web and came up with some questions…. IS THIS THING SUPPOSED TO HAVE POINTS??

Again I know nothing about an 015, ide like to either redo the wiring or buy a NOS coil and wire set.

Yes they have points from factory, Yours has been converted to the chip, that thing hanging off the bench is not factory.
I personally don't like the chips and if the saw were mine i would look for the factory points set up.

I have had some luck with the chips, and some not so good luck. I have had some last a long time, others die pretty quickly. As I recall, the chip can be wired with the ground on either side, but is depends on the type of ignition it is going on. I can’t remember though sorry.

I used a 460 coil... cut the tab off the backside, ground it flush, beveled the end and drilled a hole for the 2nd bolt. Works just fine. 👍

I have half a dozen 015s, what's a good replacement fuel line? They got that big dicky integrated plug that is always leaky....
