Sprockets

Which type is better spur or rim. Two of my saws have rim and the others have spur. It seems like it would be cheaper to change between gauges, pitches, and speed/torque. I’m considering making all my saws rim sprockets…

Almost all professional series saws are equipped with rim system. Wears better and is easier to change.

Rim sprockets are the way to go.

Once You wear out Your spur sprockets change over to rim sprockets - if compatible rim sprockets are available!

I agree with the comments above.

That said, I wouldn’t change out a spur sprocket until it is worn out. Rim sprockets are not available for all saws.
