Whether it be a dog, cat, lizard, rat, horse...lets be honest, we run into some special animals in our life times. I would like to hear about animals that were special to you.

I was 12 or 13, I always wanted a dog from the time I was little but we never had one no matter how many times I asked...til Lily came. My brother (who has special needs) was obsessed with Basset Hounds and asserted his desire to have one. Well, a few months later we found a very cute little lemon and white female basset hound that Garrett immediately dubbed "Lily" and it stuck.

I remember not really being thrilled about the breed, I had really wanted a black Labrador or a black standard poodle. But when I picked that little long eared puppy up and her tail wagged so hard her whole body wiggled...I fell for her. She was such a gentle and good puppy. Very silly personality, loved about every animal and person she met.

I will never forget her being a little pup; her running across the yard, tripping on her own ears and going arse over tea kettle! Hahaha I'm literally laughing about it as I type.

To be quite honest my favorite pet animal was hummingbirds I had two hummingbirds J.r and hummy that would sit on my finger and drink out of the feeder every day one summer it was pretty cool

We had several dogs growing up, nothing special about them. When my first wife and I were dating we rescued a mangy little apricot miniature poodle. I named him Beau after a horse we had. That little $hit turned out to be one of the best dogs ever. Super smart, wasn’t too awful bad as a pup. He’s the only dog I’ve ever buried on my place if that tells you anything.

Now we have Bailey, a female chihuahua *s-wordzu mix. Smart as whip, sassy as hell and the apple of my eye. I can do no wrong in hers. She was rescued from under a pallet at 5 weeks. She’s three now and I assure you she will be the second plot next to Beau.

I’ve had big dogs along the way as well. Some just wasted oxygen lol but we can’t turn away a stray. Years ago the dog catcher brought a blue heeler by and said if you don’t want him we have to euthanize him. I took him and Bear was a great dog! My kiddos were little then and he’d watch them like a hawk. Herd them away from anything he didn’t want them around.

Some animals really have a profound affect on us. We’ve fostered dogs and have always rescued them with two exceptions, a lab and golden retriever. Both bought to hunt and gun shy as hell!

My family used to have a pitbull-mastiff, mutt when I was middle-school aged. He was completely deaf and ran into walls and stuff. His balance was off, and he’d have his head cocked to the side all the time. But he was so entertaining, loyal and sweet. One of the best dogs I’ve been around.
