So I sold my 084 on fleabay about 1 1/2 months ago to a lady in Florida who was probably going to use it for storm cleanup. No communication from her in that time frame and no feedback either. The saw was in great shape when it left my house, fired it up before I put it in the box, piston was clean and had lots of compression. So last nite I was going through my email and I had a dispute from Paypal. This lady claims that I misrepresented the saw and the top end is roached. Wants her money back. Paypal says she will probably get her money back and then if I want to I can file an appeal. Are you kidding?!! She used my saw for a month (I highly doubt that she used it) roached the top end and gets her money back. Whatever happened to taking responsibility for your actions or those whom you are responsible for. I know, I know, I shouldn't have sold it on ebay. But GD, this just sucks. That is about 1k that I have to pay for somebody basically renting my saw and returning it to me damaged. Pissed off is the understatement of the century. I was starting to get the old stinking thinking about going down to Florida when I get that chainsaw running and just letting it rip through her house while she stares in amazement, then turning around and telling her there is nothing wrong with this saw. I am amazed at the balls of some people. I couldn't sleep last nite I was so pissed. Anybody have this happen to them and how did you deal with it besides a kick in the sack?

Not to that extent, but years ago I sold a Bosch battery and charger on eBay. It went for way more than I expected. About a month later they drew that money from my account stating that the credit card used for the purchase was used fraudulently. I asked what about me now that I am out of what I sold. I was told to prove I shipped it. I sent it parcel post, so no tracking number and I had tossed the receipt a while earlier. Basically I had to eat it...

That is terrible...and you are SOL. eBay is a complete buyers market. I think they have 6 months to dispute now...unbelievable if you ask me!!
I buy quite a bit off of eBay...and may try selling parts if needed...but would steer clear of full saws. There are just too many shady people that need a 357 hole to breathe out of.

When i sell a saw on ebay i sell it as parts or repair then there is no recourse on there part. I describe it as it is even if it's rebuilt i still
sell as parts or repair do to it being a vintage or a used saw.

Well, live and learn. Its a crying shame that some people are so selfish. I've learned my lesson. The woman from Paypal was extremely understanding saying her whole family was in the tree business, but there's only so much she can do. I'll pray about it, and whatever shall be shall be. we shall survive. I just hope that Karma is in full swing!!

Yeah I was thinking about that. That is a good strategy. In her little statement she stated that the saw is over 8 years old... does she think its a car?? This BS is totally assanine. But 1 thing I'm going to do is to look it over REAL good when I get it back and ding her for every little thing I can find. Two can play this game. But do you think Paypal would exercise some common sense in this?

I had" in good working condition" in the ad, which it was. And shes disputing that after having it a month without contacting me? Was she going to use it to trim her rhotodedrum bush out back? Don't think so. Dallas, I don't know what this worlds coming to. My mother always said I was born 100 years too late.

Did you post a pic of the piston in the original auction. I always do with a pic of a comp gauge showing compression readings. Then you have something to give paypal. Before and after pic's. I also put a tag on every saw with oil mix instructions. Paypal will always favor the buyer so it's up to us to try to protect ourselves in every way we can.

Dont sell that much, I really should have. I think I have a pic of the compression readings Lee. BTW - was going to stop by when we did vacation this year in Cape Cod, maybe next year. Going back to Chatham.

Sorry this happened trooney, people have no conscience. I know a guy who buys tools from Home Depot and saves the packaging. He'll literally use them for years and then return them.
