The u-shaped bit is supposed to go where the notch on the screw is, your tensioner should have a rubber square there. If it doesn't, that's probably why your screw backs out. I can never remember how the "dick" should be oriented (I know that'll come back to haunt me), so I just lay the bar on the powerhead and see how the bar hole lines up with the tensioner slot. If the hole is closer to the stud side, orient the tensioner dick that way, if it's the other way reverse it.

I probably spent 20 minutes trying to figure out how to install the tensioner and U part. The prior nut was stripped--that's why it kept falling out. I could not figure out how to place the U in a way it would not fall out so did not, could not find rubber part.

The only stupid question is the one you fear to ask.

We all started green at one point, having mentors along the way. Anyone saying anything else is full of themselves.

You have a great wealth of talent here that is willing to help, sometimes pictures of what you are working on helps too.

Actually I think there are some dumb questions, and if we are not interacting with people using yard equipment on a weekly basis then we will need to ask which has never bothered me when inquired of on machines.

Random addition here, I have a Mac 800 and when I threw a Stihl bar on their I flipped that tensioner for a perfect fit with the stud spacers.

And yes I know I missed 3 dick jokes here.
