You see the pipes welded together inside the muffler, they extend thru the holes in the front and are flared there to prevent removal. There’s a brace cast into the two halves inside that support the pipes when it’s assembled.
In my other machine they are not there. Just great big holes in the front half where the pipes were.

Wonder if the tubes were different lengths to affect the exhaust tone or pressure wave at your ears?
But then I've worked in enough shops to know it could just be an "oops" in the parts dept.
Bad semi-legible photocopies of "blueprints" can have a surprisingly long life too.

You know, was just looking closely at these. They are not the same muffler. The pipes are not the only difference. Look close at the casting around the exit holes. Bigger holes and heavier casting around them on the one minus the pipes.

And actually in a different spot. The one minus the pipes has the holes cast closer to the center.

Just cut the tube? My 064 has a tube inside and extended out like that.

Yesterday I read where some fellow was able to measure the cylinder bore from the exhaust port. So, when I got home I took the front covers off both Twins and trying several different methods was able to measure both. I am happy to report that I now own one of each. The 100cc is 40mm, the 110cc is 43mm. The 100cc (with what looks like a more restrictive muffler) and a 110cc with the muffler w/o pipes and larger exits. AND I was able to finally find the correct o-ring that stopped the gas cap from leaking. Woo-Hoo!

Good Afternoon,

Speaking of fuel caps.

Anybody have the solution to cracked fuel tanks?

Larry, I’m looking for that remedy right now, one of my twins has a busted tank. I will let you know when I find something suitable. (If I can remember to)

Friend has both.

He is who I learned this from on the 100 110 years back. You can see some other differences when you start comparing all his pics.

I've only cut with 1 to date and it was Larry's that he brought to a gtg 05-06 I think.

Still need to run up there to H O S. Larry watching in back ground.
