Just thinking for a minute here. Has anyone ever tried experimenting by using a snap ring instead of a snap clip to hold on sprockets?

A snap ring instead of an E clip? I've seen it done, but I don't know if it was factory

i wouldnt think it would work well because on snap ring they are usually thin from center to edge where the e clip has the little fingers that go in the groove of the crank

I was going to try and find snap clip to fit in the groove just like the e clip. Looking for the same size interior diameter opening so it fits in the groove tight.
Speaking of eclips, which side do you install facing you when put on the shaft? Looks like the eclips have a side with extended prongs and a side where the prongs go in. Not sure I am explaining it correctly.

Just curious thats all. It looked like a snap ring would hold a little better. Nothing more than that. It would suck if the eclip sprung out in the field when you were trying to put it on. Or after changing rims. Good luck finding it.
