I have a new to me silvey 600 , my question is on the chain holder. it has a hand bolt to hold in place but there is no pins or a ledge to index it to same place. meaning if I take it off or rotate it 180 degrees I have to guess where it goes. I can set it up with a level but it would seem there should be some sort of shelf for it to sit on.
Thanks. Tom

not a home right now but I can if needed . the vice can move horizontal, pivot either way, it seems it should sit on something. I leveled it and tightened the bolt that holds it and it grinds fine

Why do you have to rotate it 180? It should have 2 chain stops on it for left and right side cutters and the motor can be run in reverse.

Ok, I get what you want to do now.

Why don't you get it level where you like it and score a line under the chain vise so you can return it to the correct height and angle.

It has a small protrusion that the vice sits against . but you have to eyeball it . I checked with my digital angle guage and it is on but if there was a lip it would be easier
