Up for sale today is this Silvey 300 round grinder that has been converted to run 511/511ax/Oregon Wheels.
This grinder runs forward and reverse to always run into the cutter.
Runs and grinds just as it should.
$300+ shipping
I got this one from nstueve who had Shawn Carr make the adapter to run the Oregon wheels.
Explanation of the mechanism that holds the chain from member procarbine2k1,
“It's not actually a clamp at all, which is the beauty of the grinder. It has 2 pawls (for left and right side cutters) that rest against the back of the tooth. When the wheel comes in contact with the chain, the pawl holds tension on the chain. It makes grinding quick, because their is no clamping, and the operator can hand feed the chain as fast as they can grind the chain.”
It's been converted to Oregon grinding wheels so you don't have to buy Silvey branded wheels. Has positive locking chain vice so your tooth doesn't move during grinding and no need to clamp the tooth every time you move the chain forward. The up and down adjustment allows you to set the wheel to grind symmetrically no matter how far you grind down your stone. These also have a very short throw so you aren't pulling your grinder head down 5-6 inches every time you grind a cutter.
