Does anyone know of anyone making replacement Stihl 084 mufflers,

I know you can get the billet fronts, and I have one but the muffler bases are impossible to find and more expensive than a rebuild saw if you find one
In another muff thread I think @mdavlee was working on something like that .

I'm hoping to make some in June if the flanges aren't too expensive to get laser cut.

Quick question. I know there is some ratio for the exhaust port to muffler output size. I would like to open up the 036 I'm flipping for resale. Ive heard of the dry spagittie noodles trick to measure openings accurately. Is 80% smaller on the output vs input on the muffler an accurate ratio?
Am I on the right page here?

Or just use a caliper and a little math to figure out the area. Then times by .8

Gotta know your Gazinta's.

What a waste of pasta.

So your are in agreement that 80% is the right ratio?

Spaghetti trick? Please fill me in

Stick uncooked spaghetti into the muffler inlet hole. It's easier to get a size on an irregular shaped hole. The remove 20% of the noodles and grind away till the remaining noodles fit in the muffler exit hole.
