A lady brought me one about 25 years old.
Replace carb and fuel lines .

Damn thing started 1st pull.

Them Shindaiwa equipment is some of the best ever made IMHO.

Wished they still made them that good

I have one as well, built tough, kill switch stopped working. Other than that, runs great.

Probably would be around the same time your project was new also.
A friend of mine came by one day and he had three trimmers on loan/tryout from a dealer.
A couple of mid-range Husqvarna, a Stihl and a smallish looking Shindaiwa.
He wanted my input on a choice.
I grabbed the Stihl and the Husky units first.
Took about five minutes each, of running them to get a kinda mehh opinion of one brand and the other one was just decent, I'd say.
Then I picked up the Shindy.
I ended up walking the rest of the way around my house with it, rather than putting it back in his truck with the other two.
When I finished, I just looked at my friend and said "do you even need to ask?"

All we ever ran was Shinnys when I mowed commercially. I still have a few laying around that will fire right up. The newer ones are still pretty good trimmers
