Started collecting Shindaiwa equipment several years back. Managed to get some good deals from time to time and the numbers add up.
A pic of a few of my saws.

Very nice, The only Shindaiwa I have is a 680 with a full wrap.

The 757 is no slouch - I did a lot of tree work with my 757 and they're a good, torquey saw. Like most of the Japanese saws, they make their
power at a lower RPM range.

Nice collection Rich.

I haven’t added any lately. Still lots of duplicates. Put some time on the 680 and 488 this year.

I need to fire up my 680 and see how she runs. Came to me with a 30 inch bar or so with no chain
but is suppose to run. never tried it.

I haven’t tried anything longer than 24” with mine. Really like it with a 20”.

The 680 was ahead of its time when introduced in 1984. The best Husqvarna had to offer in that class at that time was the 266 and Stihl with their 038 Super.

The 680 was rated for 28" but some were run with 30" plus bars and that's where the complaints of overheating came from.

Great collection! I have a new appreciation for Shindaiwa after picking up the 575. They are sooo incredibly designed and put together! Will have it in wood this weekend. A new Tusmura 20 light bar will be waiting for me at Randy's GTG. Another member here did a couple square ground chains for my 038 Mag. One of those will go on the Shin.

Wow, fantastic collection! Ok I gotta ask: what do you think of the current Echo saws in Shindaiwa colors and branding? Or, are some of these actually Shindaiwas sold as Echo?

I’m not sure how that is all working out. The last time I asked in the shop I believe the owner said the Shindaiwa I was looking at was a rebadged Echo saw. The 490 is the newest I’ve got and everything else was made before the merger or buy out.

There are still a couple of Shindaiwa design weed eaters being sold, my T242 is one of them. Last I checked, a few Shindaiwa design saws were being sold overseas but not here. I also like the Zenoah Redmax saws, sadly the line has mostly mutated into Jonseredmax. Far as I can tell the GZ4350 is a bona fide Zenoah saw and is also sold as the Husky 543XP. I really want one!

Take this with a grain of salt, but what I heard was Shindaiwa couldn’t or wouldn’t meet epa requirements in the US. That is why they stopped selling here. I would think any Shindaiwa saws available now would have required a redesign or are an Echo rebadged.
