This was Dad's(rip) old Craftsman mower. I chunk of deck was broken out. I got a section of 1/8"x 1.5" aluminum from the hardware store and automotive spray touch up paint, close, I didn't paint the whole deck. I cut a 1.5" section out where deck was damaged and welded it in. Then ground, sanded, primer, painted it.20200502_195119.jpg20200512_152539.jpg20200512_152605.jpg20200512_154420.jpg20200512_170416.jpg

It's getting there! Lot's of time disassembly, clean each piece, some sand blasting, either polish & clear coat or paint.
I ordered reproduction decals I found on line.
The fuel tank was really a mess inside but I found using a mixture of aquarium gravel and sand with cleaner, shake and repeat ten times got it clean as new.20200515_151908.jpg20200515_151928.jpg20200515_151944.jpg

Thanks so much for the kind words. I'm 68 and it's as old as me! As I work I know Dad is looking down from from heaven smiling! [emoji846]
Also thanks so much everyone all the great ideas! Even the chrome two part handle is taking lots of time with soft brass wire wheel but rust flying off getting down to chrome! I'll spray that clear coat also.
Fun project, purrs like a kitten.

All I can do is guess, 3" bore x 3" stroke = 21 cu.in. or 340 c.c.? That's my wild guess.
Maybe 2 to 3 hp? Hopefully Dad may have a manual for it. I always remember it even as a little kid. I'm 68 and read somewhere they were made 1950-56. It never had a shroud so I think it's an early one.

Looks like its really coming together. Great job on the aluminum deck repair. Are you planning on putting it to work when it's done or is it gonna be a display model?

As a guess just looking at the engine I'd say it's in the 100cc to 150cc range I'll see what I can find on Google about them.

Found a little on it It's a Tecumseh looks kind of like s AV-47 2.2 hp under 100cc
If it still has the aluminum tag get pic of numbers on it Tecumseh has good records on the net of all there engine's from the 1950's
