This has a carb that all I find identification is RUI ING stamped in it. Anyone know what it is. Does the primer bulb hose go down to the bottom of the tank? Also what is the inlet needle valve setting? It will start but will not take the throttle. I don't know what kit it will take nor the high / low settings for the carb.

Purge line should just pull through carb and then an open ended, return hose just fits far enough into the tank to stay in the hole.

I've found a lot of the Ryobi~Homelite carbs have been superseded to those "ru-x-ing"s.

You might go back a few years in the IPL listings to see what model of Zama or Walbro carburetor looks like the same build.
The rotary/barrel types seem to be a
Walbro knockoff. (walbro WYC ? )

Haven't checked lately, but these folks used to have pretty good info for crossing over the old (Walbro/Zama) carbs to the Ru-x-ing replacements.
www.ereplacementparts.com
Ebay listings are more hit&miss though.
Based on just my personal fumblings with the Ryobi 30cc stuff...
The earlier butterfly types seemed to more likely be a Walbro whereas the newer ones seemed to be Zama.

I'll do a bit of looking for some photos to see if I have any useful info as to what might tell an equivalent carb.
Seems like I may have lost some images during storage media shuffling though.

I found some pics of one carb.
Zama C1U body.
The pics show more the carb numbers and some Ryobi model numbers and hopefully might give ya a comparison to start from.
Might check for what Ru-x-ing tossed us in its place and try some basic info from the Zama?

I may have to just go snap some more images when I can get back out to the shed.

Might be a bit loopy in my prose. Sorry.
I should be asleep but the weather shift (Claudette) is getting here and my knees just ain't calmed the F### down yet...

Thanks for the replies. I am confused on the purge line & return hose? The return line goes to the bottom of tank & the primer bulb line just goes into the top of the tank far enough to stay in the hole? Is this correct?

I think I got this thing figured out. I only put the line from the primer bulb abut a 1/2 inch protruding into the tank. Removed the muffler and found it had a wire mesh type "noise suppressor" inside of it. It was pretty carboned up and I dug it out with a pair of needle nose pliers. Got it running and adjusted the carb and it seems to be running pretty good. Damn thing would not even run before. Thanks again for your input and hope the storm doesn't give anyone trouble.

Half inch in the tank may hold just fine!
I like to have enough hose length
(2~3 inches.)
So that the hose isn't as likely to vibrate out or get bumped out of the tank hole.

(knew I was getting loopy)

I should have mentioned that the purge bubble typically draws fuel through the same hose that feeds fuel to the carb (the hose with the weighted fuel filter on the end) which also supplies fuel to the running engine.
The hose from the bulb just dumps it back into the tank.

What you removed from the muffler was probably the catalytic element.
I found a couple of pics from one I did.
Many folks remove them.
I don't like the amount of heat that they develop so close to the cylinder/engine.
They are often mentioned in any number of Muffler Mod threads!

That is the stuff I removed. It was pretty hard & I had to drill it to break it up so I could pull it out. This blower belongs to a friend & he asked if I would look at it. I am not a mechanic but I do tinker with these small engines. I had the carb apart & was going to get a kit but could not figure out what kit would fit. Just ended up I sprayed some 2+2 thru the passages & put it back together. I put new fuel lines on it & it still would not run. It would start but would not keep running. That is when I took the muffler off & removed that "brillo pad". Fired up & I adjusted the carb & it is running great. Thanks again for your help.
