Rusted carb

I have a Jonsered that was not running well; the carb had been rebuilt. I had it sitting in my apartment and dropped it off at the repair shop and they said it has a rusted carb.. Is there any solution to that outside of replacing it? Thanks for any help on this.

What model jonsereds?
Probably old discolored ethanol fuel
Easily cleanable.
Most carbs are easy rebuild and good to go.
Not always though
Just get the saw back
And take pics of it
We can help you diagnose it.

You might be able to find replacement parts for the carb. Letting them sit outside or in a damp location for a long time can cause water to collect inside and rust the metering lever parts.

I've had throttle and choke shafts stuck from rust. A few drops of atf and lacquer thinner to dissolve the rust and lubricate them.

Ethanol strikes again. one of the reasons why allmost all small eng have plastic tanks now. ethanol attracts moisture.

My brother sent me a video by Steve’s small engine saloon that pointed out all the other bad junk in pump gas. Mainly benzene. I’m more inclined to use canned fuel.

Benzene was used in after shave in the 40s , its also be used as a super high octane racing fuel.

Strangely enough rubbing benzene on ones face causes cancer?

I did a paper in school on Benzene, most of which I have forgotten.

It is a carcinogen among its other nasty trademarks.

Don’t bring it to my house.
